Keynote Speech
"Growing
Technical Leaders"
Baby boom IT managers will start
retiring soon, so it's time to get serious about growing the next
generation of technology leaders. But how? The common response, send
them for an MBA degree, is coming under increasing scrutiny as a
questionable answer. Just sending your high-potential, young
managers to a week-long skills boot camp won't do it.
Effective leaders need a combination of
managerial maturity, business acumen, wisdom and ethics in order to know what to
do with skills. In this presentation, we'll talk about different approaches to
growing your own future IT leaders.
“Paul Glen’s insights and experience provide the keys to

– Warren Bennis, co-author Geeks and Geezers
From This Entertaining, High-Content Keynote You Will Learn…
“Paul Glen masterfully and humorously teaches us how to create
followership in this notoriously inscrutable but essential population. Ignore
his rock-solid advice at your own peril.”
- Andrew Sobel, author of “Clients for Life” and “Making Rain”
“Highly talented technical people are a separate breed and
managing them is a delicate art. Paul has done the improbable – he’s taken his
experience and knowledge of technical leadership and produced a ... treasure
trove of wisdom for technical managers.”
- Rick Freedman, author “The IT Consultant”
“The old phrase ‘knowledge is
power” is not quite correct.
Understanding
is power, and that’s what Glen provides.”
- David H. Maister, co-author First Among Equals
